For us, innovation is not just about coming up with new ideas; it’s also about grounding these ideas in reality and making them work alongside existing technology and infrastructure.

We use predictive analytics to understand future trends, high impact visualisations to present data in 3 or 4D picture formats and have even tested gaming technologies for design validation of physical workstations. But, innovation isn’t just about the use and application of technology, it includes the design and operation of procedures, access to and use of data, and most importantly relationships and collaborations with an array of unique suppliers and partners.

Working in partnership with the industry and our customers is fundamental when developing, testing and implementing revolutionary new tools and systems, in order to help solve aviation’s biggest challenges. Solutions can be created with collaborative teams that deliver real value for customers, whether this is in the form of cost savings, operational efficiencies, or reducing environmental impacts, and all whilst maintaining safety.

Mark Flanigan is general manager of Strategy & Solutions at NATS. In this video he explains how we encourage innovative thinking, and how we bring ideas to life by investing in our staff, technology and state-of-the-art facilities to support project teams with the tools and time to innovate.
