It’s that time of the year again: warm summer evenings are becoming a distant memory and as the nights draw in, it’s time to pull the curtains and settle down for another series of our favourite TV singing contest, The X Factor.

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has celebrated World Tourism Day on 27th September – helping to raise awareness of the important role tourism plays in making the world a better place. 

Now in its 16th year, The London Design Festival is a truly international affair. A creative celebration that brings together designers, architects and exhibitors from across the globe to showcase their latest designs, it is world-renown and the highlight of the year for many in the industry

Amanda Wakeley, Christopher Kane and Victoria Beckham are just a handful of iconic designers gearing up for one of the ‘big four’ fashion events of the year – London Fashion Week.

On this morning’s Today programme on BBC Radio 4, their Business Editor asked Peter Bellew, the COO of Ryanair, why he thought NATS would discriminate against his airline, and Stansted Airport, to cause them unfair levels of delay. The short answer is that we wouldn’t, and we don’t, discriminate between airlines or airports.

What a spectacular summer it’s been here in the UK: The Royal Wedding, football so very nearly “coming home”, and of course, the long spell of hot weather that continued to stretch on in an untypically British fashion. 

But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

It’s with a heavy heart therefore that Britons will be waving goodbye to the summer this week, as millions return to work and school with a big dose of the post-holiday blues!

Over more than 70 years, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe has showcased thousands of weird, wacky and witty performances. Founded back in 1947, it is now the world’s largest arts festival. Every August the city’s streets are filled with performers, buskers and living statues while the theatres are packed out with show after show from some of comedy’s biggest stars.

This week sees the UK celebrating one of its favourite traditions: afternoon tea.

Whether enjoyed in a 5-star hotel, or a quaint tearoom, the British love a sweet treat – particularly when served with one of the 165 million cups of tea the nation drinks each day.

The Premier League might take place in England and Wales but it’s a truly international affair.  So this week’s question has been inspired by the new season: How many flights do NATS’ air traffic controllers manage in the busiest 90 minutes of the week?
