Aviation and the fight against climate change
7 December 2015Aviation produces greenhouse gases, that’s a fact we can’t ignore and yet at the same time the world has become addicted to flying. Later today I will be speaking at the UN Climate Change Summit in Paris to demonstrate some of what we’re doing to deliver CO2 emission reductions.
Reducing our environmental impact and giving back to our community
23 September 2015At NATS we strive to be environmentally efficient in our operational and corporate work and support the community through charity and voluntary work.
Energy savings stack up!
28 August 2015In 2008, when we established our environmental programme as one of our core business values, NATS signalled a shift in culture, putting environment at the heart of our operation for the first time, and setting the expectation for our employees to act responsibly in everything they do.
Cleaner, Quieter and Smarter! Continuous Descent campaign delivers tangible improvements
18 August 2015Continuous Descents Operations (CDOs) mitigate noise by keeping aircraft higher for longer. They can offer noise reductions of between 1 to 5 decibels per aircraft on the approach from between 25 to around 10 miles to touchdown.
Driving efficiency through smarter working
25 June 2015Smarter and more collaborative working is the best way to be efficient and ensure we can be sustainable as an industry.
This is the third annual World ATM Congress trade show and we’re looking forward to welcoming delegates onto our stand to talk with our team and watch a range of technical demonstrations, as well as participate in more light hearted activities in the form of refreshments and games.
Six steps to one million tonnes of CO2 savings
20 January 2015Today we announced that NATS is now enabling annual savings of almost 1m tonnes of CO2 in UK airspace – that worth £115m a year in fuel savings to airlines.
Helping to reduce your carbon footprint
6 January 2015As airlines work hard to reduce their fuel burn and CO2 emissions, we at NATS have also been coming up with ways to help, using air traffic control initiatives to play our part.
Aviation needs to start planning for climate change
2 December 2014Over the past few years more and more effort has gone into reducing the impact that aviation has on the environment. But, even if we were able to drastically cut carbon emission tomorrow some impact from climate change is now inevitable and we need to be prepared.
Using data to identify environmental savings
19 November 2014Today, we announced the launch of FLOSYS, a new real time tool that will help our business better understand the environmental performance of the aircraft we provide a service to.
