Careers Open Day – registration now open
18 November 2015How much do you know about NATS? NATS is an exciting place to work and showing people the opportunities we offer and profiling the expertise and dedication of our people makes our annual Careers Open Day an important date in the diaries of my team. This year the date is Wednesday 9th December 2015, from 18:00 to 21:00.
Careers conundrum? Learning your options for placements, apprenticeships and graduate schemes
18 September 2015As students everywhere are returning to, or starting, university or college, they’ll be taking the first steps on their career ladder. For planning placement years, organising apprenticeships or looking for work as graduates there are lots of options out there.
Women in engineering (Pt. 5)
13 August 2015The opportunities for engineers, especially at NATS, are fantastic and you don’t get pigeon-holed into a particular niche, so you should not get bored.
Women in engineering (Pt. 4)
23 June 2015National Women in Engineering Day (NWED) was set up to raise the profile and celebrate the achievements of women in engineering. Our blog series “women in engineering” has featured several of our female engineers over the last year. Today, for NWED, we look at another of our female engineers, Fiona McCluskey, NATS’ Duty Engineering Officer (DEO) based at Aberdeen Airport.
Engineering the future
27 March 2015Engineers can imagine too! As we begin to deploy more SESAR air traffic management technologies and concepts, we are also imagining how we could further improve our services – now and in the future.
Women in engineering (Pt. 3)
20 March 2015Following the launch of our new Engineering Apprenticeship programme it seemed an opportune time to feature another article in our women in engineering series to encourage potential apprentices from both genders to apply before the deadline at the end of March. This one is from Katie Butler, Project Manager in Services and Infrastructure with NATS.
From code breaking to ATC training
5 March 2015Time at Bletchley, whether as a resident apprentice or a course attendee, is considered to be a formative time in an engineer’s life.
NATS College of Telecommunications Engineering not only trained apprentices, but also provided continuing professional development for existing staff and other companies or countries wishing to take advantage of the comprehensive technical facilities.
A new NATS exhibition space in the National Museum of Computing will open in April 2015.
Not going to university?
22 January 2015More and more young people are finishing their A levels and BTEC level 3s looking for an alternative to university. Well-structured apprenticeship schemes are increasingly popular and considered as a really positive alternative for school and college leavers who already have an idea of what they want to do.
NATS now offers an advanced engineering apprenticeship scheme to reflect this change in the marketplace.
Becoming a NATS IP
10 October 2014Industrial Placement schemes (IPs) are available across NATS as well as vacancies for Direct Entry Graduates (DEGs) in Engineering. Applying for such positions may seem a little daunting so we asked some of our new IPs to share some tips and first impressions.
New Multilateration System at Heathrow
26 September 2014A new Multilateration System has been transitioned into operational service at Heathrow Airport. To transition such a highly integrated system in a complex and busy airfield environment – and without any operational impact – was certainly a challenge.
