A Decade of Acting Responsibly
10 May 2018A decade ago we launched Acting Responsibly – a unique programme among air navigation service providers globally – and we’ve achieved a huge amount. The sheer enthusiasm and passion of NATS employees has seen the programme grow into a rich range of activities. I’d like to share a few of highlights from the past […]
While the biggest sustainability issues facing aviation are related to aircraft fuel burn, emissions and noise, there are many good reasons for Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), like us, to reduce the impact of their own operations too.
Collaborating to grow UK Aviation Sustainably – A View from inside Sustainable Aviation
5 February 2016Working together has enabled Sustainable Aviation (SA) to achieve results we could never have achieved individually, and there’s plenty more for us to do.
Aviation and the fight against climate change
7 December 2015Aviation produces greenhouse gases, that’s a fact we can’t ignore and yet at the same time the world has become addicted to flying. Later today I will be speaking at the UN Climate Change Summit in Paris to demonstrate some of what we’re doing to deliver CO2 emission reductions.
Reducing our environmental impact and giving back to our community
23 September 2015At NATS we strive to be environmentally efficient in our operational and corporate work and support the community through charity and voluntary work.
Cleaner, Quieter and Smarter! Continuous Descent campaign delivers tangible improvements
18 August 2015Continuous Descents Operations (CDOs) mitigate noise by keeping aircraft higher for longer. They can offer noise reductions of between 1 to 5 decibels per aircraft on the approach from between 25 to around 10 miles to touchdown.
Driving efficiency through smarter working
25 June 2015Smarter and more collaborative working is the best way to be efficient and ensure we can be sustainable as an industry.
Six steps to one million tonnes of CO2 savings
20 January 2015Today we announced that NATS is now enabling annual savings of almost 1m tonnes of CO2 in UK airspace – that worth £115m a year in fuel savings to airlines.
Helping to reduce your carbon footprint
6 January 2015As airlines work hard to reduce their fuel burn and CO2 emissions, we at NATS have also been coming up with ways to help, using air traffic control initiatives to play our part.
